May- LT-- I modelled how to use the laptop and projector to do shared wriitng aith an additional iCT goal such as adding capital letters to writing. The aim was to improve childrens general typing and keyboard skills to help them when they type.
The coaching program was also modelled with the powerpoint story board. Children should now be able rotate round the power point book adding stories to it daily.

after this modelling the children were often using computers to draft write and publish there stories. they now had the skills of using full stops and capital letters correctly as well as an understanding of the keyboard. the more they used this the faster there typing got also. the powerpoint story book was coached through the entire class so they all have an understanging of how to use this. this is an effective tool to use during writing time and also when any free time becomes avaible in the classroom. I hope to get this up and running more consistently to ensure the children are getting the ict powerpoint skills as well as being able to use the powerpoint story book as a reading rotation task.

June 9- LT took an expert group of 5 children and showed them how to record on the easi speak then put it onto a powerpoint. This si going to be used like a listening post to shre good reading. It will ahve 2 main purposes. 1 to encourage children to want to read fluently and expressively so they can record on the powerpoint. 2 for children to be keen to listen to the stories as they know the people reading them.

the children have all been coached thru using the easi speak and uploading it onto a powerpoint. this gave them an opportunity to again learn new technology as well as practise a skill of what we are learning in the classroom at the moment to be speajking aloud with fluency and expression. this was only practised towards end of term and as above will be used during a reading rotation. having children be able to listen to themselves proved successful for feed back and feed forward for each speaker. The chidlren now know there leranig steps for when reading aloud.

LT--I did notice how all the 5 children used capital letters when typing corectly which could have been a direct result of doing some shared writing together using the projector.

the projector and keyboard has been used alot during term 2. I have begun teaching a range of students about setting the projector up and so now it is a task the children enjoy doing and also leaves me free to be able to deal with the rest of the class. we decdied to design a picture book to celebrate our values and beliefs. This was full of technology and a massive leraning experience for the children. they learnt to use the digital camera effectively, upload photos (still needs practice) put photos into a word document (still needs practise) and to use word effectively to make this picuter book effective with speech bubbles, bolrders., range of font and sizes, and text boxes. having the children do this in groups has led to a lot of students learning new things as well as now being confidnet to do these things at other times in the classrrooom. the children are also learning to save there work correctly. having a few experts and teahing this has been very successful with now a lot less frustration and time lost looking for things saved incorrectly or wiped.

I hope to keep using technology as much as possible in the classroom although it can be time consuming and frustrating when something wont work it is great to see how much improvement the children have made with a variety of things and the excitement when technology is used for a particular area/\.

27th july LT in to show webspiration to reading group then they taught class on projector. Kispiration has been doen a little but lack of liceneces means the class need to try webspiration. A

Aug LT shared wiki and got the class engaged again. this time trained 3 experts to hopefully keep the enthusiasm going and there ideas going on the wiki.

Aug LT taught bottom group webspiration with same objective as above.

Evaluation:

Room 14's ICT skills have greatly improved during the year. They have all had some time with Mrs Short learning a variety of things.

All childrena are all familair with and independently able to use webspiration to do reading group or brainstorming tasks and they are all able to use the programme easily. This has especially extended the less able children who find it very difficult to do things such as set up a brainstorm with bubbles, arrows, titles etc and who's spelling lacks so take a long time to get anythign down on paper. having the 'exciting keyboard' to get to type on means a lot more happens in the amount of time. The children also feel more proud of their work when it is done on the computer as the brainstorms always look good and there is also a type of competition to get the most done which is meaning more learning.

most children feel confident with setting up and completing a powerpoint story book, if a child is not confident we have experts to help out who have been trained up. The powerpoint story book has the same effect on all of the children like above the privellege of getting to complete there writing on the computer pushes them and makes them present excellent work. the simple skillls such as saving work, logging on correctly, shutting down correctly, searching for things on the internet all took a long time and a lot of practise and patience but in the end is worth it as now this is all very independent and there is definitely someone about who can help instead of it always being me this is why the 'expert' idea was excellent and showed its use.

The children all get the opportunity to use the camera often, laptops/computer often and a lot of them can easily upload photos into correct places which is a massive job taken off my hands!

We attempted to get a wiki/blog up and running in room 14 but unfortunately i myself found it difficult to use and the kids ended up losing interest as it wasnt talked about enough which in my reflection i will be aiming for a lot better output with this in the future!!!!!

the children have learnt a lot about the use of different programmes and things, and the more experience they get with it all will be fantastic, it has been wonderful to receive so much help from Sue and to learn so many things myself as well as seeing such an improvement in the childrens ict skills, problem solving skills and working together skills has been a great experience! Thank you Sue and Jill
